This presentation will review the diagnosis, different etiologies of peri-implantitis and the surgical approaches to implant repair from Peri-implantitis destruction.
- To understand the bone grafting choices and the rational for the different materials.
- To discuss the methods available for implant detoxification during implant repair surgery.
- To understand the primary and secondary etiologies of peri-implantitis.
- To discuss what can be expected with implant repair and identify indications for implant removal rather than repair.
Bradley S. McAllister, DDS, PhD
Dr. McAllister received his DDS from the University of Washington and completed his periodontal specialty training and PhD in San Antonio at the University of Texas. He is both a board certified diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and of the International Congress of Oral Implantology. He is also a Fellow of the International Team of Implantologists (iti). He is currently a part time faculty member in the Department of Periodontology at the Oregon Health Sciences University. Dr. McAllister is a member of International Society of Periodontal Plastic Surgeons. He is a reviewer for both the Journal of Periodontology and the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry. He has served several years on the AAP Continuing Education Oversight Committee and Scientific Oversight Committee where he is currently serving as chair. He has received several awards including the AAP Earl Robinson research award two times. Dr. McAllister’s research for the past twenty five years has focused on bone grafting for implant reconstruction, wound healing and innovative implant designs. He has published over 30 manuscripts and book chapters in these areas of research.
