Large carious lesions can present as restorative challenges and can be difficult to tackle using traditional “extension for prevention” techniques taught in most dental schools. Through this course, providers will learn techniques for deep carious lesion management, pulp vitality preservation during caries excavation and deep margin elevation to make the process of treating large carious lesions simpler and more predictable.
- Understand concepts for conservative caries excavation.
- Learn ways to maintain pulp vitality when caries approaches the pulp or in the event of pulpal exposure.
- Review the concept of deep margin elevation for preparations that extend subgingivally.
